One third of the Dutch population find durability to be an important criteria in their choice what to buy, and more than half take it into account. An even larger group - more than 60% - think that aspects of durability will become an even bigger issue in the coming years. With that, something is definitely going on. For the first time, attention is growing and it feels like a big change is happening as everyone wants to contribute.

Therefore, it's about time we also set new goals to be future-proof and preserve the world as we know it. This all starts with the production of organic fabrics.

Our organic fabrics, available in Jersey, Poplin and French Terry quality, are produced by suppliers who are GOTS-certified. Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) was founded to control the use of raw materials and ensure that the production process is environmentally-minded and socially acceptable:

Used chemicals may not be toxic for people and must be biodegradable for example, or the use of guidelines on working conditions.

According to GOTS-standards, all processes that use water have to include a full report on the use of chemicals, energy, water consumption and the treatment of residual water, including waste management. The residual water of all these processes has to go through a functional wastewater treatment plant as well.

The dyeing process in these factories requires a lot of water to rinse, which is purified and reused in the production process, thus providing a closed water system.

Environmentally friendly detergent

How we treat our clothing determines how much we leave our environmental footprint. In fact, the biggest part of our CO2 emissions and energy use of on an  average piece of clothing is caused by washing and aftercare, more than materials, production and distribution combined. If you would like to tackle this and keep your fabrics 'organic', make sure to use ecological and environmentally friendly detergent that does not contain any toxic substances, which is also beneficial for our residue water and ground water.
